"Chinese from Zero" app. Updated: May 20, 2026.

The "Chinese from Zero" app (the "App") is built to help you learn Mandarin Chinese at the HSK 1 level. We take your privacy seriously. This document explains what data the App processes.

Summary

The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All your progress is stored locally on your device only.

Data processed

Learning progress

Completed lessons, streak counter, and learned-word count are saved in your device's local storage (localStorage). This data never leaves your device, is not sent to any server, and is not accessible to the developer.

Speech

Character pronunciation is produced by Apple's built-in speech synthesizer (AVSpeechSynthesizer), which runs locally on your device. No text is sent to third parties.

Character writing

Stroke-order animations use data bundled inside the App. No internet connection is required.

What the App does NOT do

• No registration or login
• No collection of name, email, phone, or location
• No analytics or tracking
• No advertising
• No sharing of data with third parties
• No access to camera, microphone, contacts, or photos

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the App may locally remind you to keep studying. These reminders are scheduled on-device and use no external servers. You can disable them in iOS Settings at any time.

Children

The App is safe for users of any age and collects no data about children.

Changes

If this policy changes, an updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
